If you've ever tried to network a Windows Vista or Windows 7 computer with computers running Windows XP and you still have hair, you're one of the lucky ones. Because of changes in the security settings and OS, Vista and Win 7 don't like to play nice on a Windows XP network but chances are that you need to get at least two of these three operating systems to talk to each other so you can share data. Enter the How-To Geek website with a great set of instructions on how to amke this process as pain free as possible.
Unfortunately, since we had spent years learning the counter-intuitive MS menu structure, the Office 2007 menus didn't make sense. Add to this the less than helpful help screens (remember "Clippy" the paperclip), the end result could be extreme frustration on figuring out what should be a simple task ( or so one thought) extremely painful. MS finally appears to be serious about helping users get the most from their Office programs by creating a number of websites that provide useful links, templates and "how to's". If you haven't previously bookmarked these sites, you really should do so.
Interesting interview over at the InsideLegal blog with Eric Hunter, Director of Knowledge Management for Bradford & Barthel LLP which is based in California and has 73 attorneys and 207 employees. Hunter details the firms 24 month plan to move away from internal applications and move everything over to the Cloud including replacing MS Office with Google Apps. Read the entire interview here.
